enVision Mathematics — Middle School

The editable worksheets are awesome in case you need to do more scaffolding and need to change up the problems. It also hooks up easily to your google classroom to quickly assign things for intervention.

Overall, I have been very pleased with the enVision Math curriculum. The curriculum builds naturally on previously learned concepts, creating consistency for students as they progress through the grades. This building approach also makes it easy for me to scaffold learning early in a lesson because I can quickly connect new concepts to skills students have already encountered. I also value the level of rigor. Students are challenged while still being given opportunities to develop a meaningful understanding of the mathematics behind what they are doing. One of the things I like most about enVision is the way it makes conceptual mathematics accessible. In my own experience as a math learner, many mathematical procedures did not truly make sense to me until I understood the conceptual reasoning behind them. Once I understood the “why,” the procedural pieces began to fall into place. enVision gives students that same opportunity to develop genuine understanding rather than simply memorizing procedures. The biggest challenge I see is that the approach is not always the way parents, tutors, or even teachers, learned mathematics themselves. This can make it more difficult for families to provide assistance at home because the methods and language may look different from what they remember. However, I don't necessarily view that as a negative. In fact, I think it is an important part of moving students toward deeper mathematical understanding. While it can require some adjustment, I believe the conceptual foundation students develop is ultimately worth it. The online platform is another major strength. Once students are explicitly taught how to use it properly, it becomes an incredibly valuable instructional tool. Students receive immediate feedback and are able to learn from their mistakes while practicing independently. In many ways, it creates the equivalent of a 1:1 teacher-to-student ratio during independent practice, which is especially helpful when I am working directly with other students who need additional support. I have seen improvement in both my students' math scores and their overall understanding of mathematical concepts since using enVision. The curriculum also does a nice job of incorporating foundational skills throughout later topics. Skills introduced early in the year continue to appear in subsequent topics, creating a built-in spiral review rather than requiring the teacher to constantly find separate opportunities to revisit those concepts. The integration with Google Classroom is another significant benefit. Being able to post assignments directly from the enVision platform into students' Google Classrooms makes managing assignments much more efficient and provides a streamlined experience for both the teacher and the students. Overall, enVision combines rigor, conceptual understanding, ongoing review, and meaningful opportunities for independent practice in a way that supports both students and teachers.
