Middle-school history curriculum featuring interactive activities, inquiry, and differentiated reading supports — US History • World History • Geography — curriculum textbook
Overall, this is a good curriculum. Not much prep needed beforehand. The workbooks help the students stayed engaged and I also used the videos, reading checks, and games provided to add to the teaching. I did find that the quizzes provide were too hard for my 6th grade students without allowing it to be open book. So this year I plan to incorporate the GRAPES method for quizzes to help simplify the information.

My view reflects my position as an admin who helped select the product, not a teacher who actually taught it. We adopted this curriculum a few years ago for our 4th-10th grade (world history) history classes. We initially liked it for the student workbook portion (not available for 10th grade) which engaged students in lots of thinking activities and notes with extensive reading and writing built in. The textbook itself, is a traditional textbook, available in print and online (we purchased both). As an admin, I have observed our teachers using this curriculum and appreciate the variety of instructional options - ppt presentations, videos, ebook, and games. It also lots lots more primary reading resources which have been used by our teachers regularly. Overall, as an admin, I think this has been a great curriculum for our school and has pushed out students to engage in a variety of critical thinking tasks necessary to meet the key skills associated with social studies. Teachers have plenty of resources to choose from to help students learn the content.
